Acne & Congested Skin
Acne-prone and congested skin are common concerns that affect many people at various stages of life. Acne typically develops when excess sebum mixes with dead skin cells, leading to blockages within the pores. Beneath the skin’s surface, the sebaceous glands naturally produce sebum to moisturise the skin and form a protective barrier against friction. However, when these glands overproduce oil, it can combine with dead skin cells and bacteria—triggering inflammation and the formation of whiteheads, blackheads, or more severe breakouts that appear red, raised, and irritated.
Congested skin, on the other hand, often presents as a dull, uneven texture with blackheads, milia, or occasional whiteheads, but without significant inflammation. It results from clogged pores, excess oil production, and the build-up of dead skin cells that haven’t properly shed. Although congestion may seem mild, it can make the skin appear thick, lackluster, and uneven, and may progress into acne if left untreated.
Understanding these conditions is key to achieving clearer, healthier skin. With targeted treatments and professional care, the skin’s natural balance can be restored—reducing congestion, calming inflammation, and promoting a smoother, more radiant complexion.
