Stretch Marks
Stretch marks (striae) are a form of scarring that can develop when the skin stretches or changes rapidly, affecting collagen and elastin within the dermis. They may initially appear red or purple and often become lighter over time. As stretch marks develop within the deeper layers of the skin, topical moisturisers alone have limited ability to improve established stretch marks.
Common factors include pregnancy, growth spurts, changes in weight, muscle growth, hormonal changes and corticosteroid use. While stretch marks cannot always be completely removed, a personalised treatment plan can help improve their appearance, support collagen production and improve overall skin texture.
