Each of our lasers is equipped with an innovative cooling system that works to soothe, protect, and comfort the skin throughout the treatment process.
For optimal results, we typically recommend a series of 10 to 12 sessions, spaced approximately 4-6 weeks apart, depending on your skin tone and the area being treated. Since everyone’s skin is unique, we invite you to book a complimentary consultation with one of our experienced Laser Specialists at your nearest clinic.
Benefits of Laser Hair Removal
Safe & Precise
At Specialist Skin & Laser Clinics, we use the industry-leading Candela GentleLASE Pro—one of the world’s most effective medical-grade lasers for hair removal. Treatments are performed by highly trained laser specialists with a focus on safety and results.
Proven Results
Laser hair removal works by targeting hair follicles beneath the skin. Over a series of treatments, hair becomes finer and lighter, resulting in long-lasting hair reduction, smoother skin, and fewer ingrown hairs.
Save Time and Money
Laser hair removal is a smart long-term investment. Reduce the ongoing cost of shaving and waxing while enjoying smooth, hair-free skin with long-lasting results. Save both time and money with a more convenient solution.
Say Goodbye to Ingrown Hairs
By directly targeting your hair follicle, laser hair removal significantly reduces ingrown hairs and irritation. It's a long-term solution to smoother skin without the bumps, redness, or discomfort.
We Make Hair Removal Look Effortless – But What’s Really Happening?
Laser Hair Removal works by targeting the dark pigment in your hair follicles. The laser energy heats and weakens the follicle, causing the hair to shed naturally. With each session, the follicle becomes further impaired—until it can no longer grow hair at all.
Smooth skin, no razor, no stress. Just long-term results you’ll love.
Before your laser hair removal appointment
To ensure safe and effective results, please follow these important pre-treatment guidelines:
Shaving
Ensure the treatment area is cleanly shaved 24 hours prior to your appointment. In-clinic shaving is available for certain areas only (excluding face and private areas) for an additional fee.
Avoid topical products (24 hours prior)
Do not apply deodorants, body oils, or moisturisers to the treatment area.
Vitamin A/Retinol
Discontinue use of Vitamin A or Retinol products on the treatment area at least 1 week prior to treatment.
Sun exposure guidelines
If you’ve had any direct or incidental sun exposure—including tanning or spending time mostly in the shade, with or without SPF—please allow at least 2 weeks before your laser treatment.
Fake tan & tanning products
Avoid the use of self-tanning creams or tanning moisturisers for at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment. Please also ensure that any existing fake tan is fully exfoliated and completely removed before your treatment.
Solarium use
Do not use solariums for at least 4 weeks before treatment.
Other skin treatments
Avoid skin needling, resurfacing treatments and advanced peels for 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
Laser treatment cannot be performed on the face within 2 - 4 weeks of receiving dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections.
To support proper healing and get the best results, please follow these post-treatment guidelines.
Avoid heat & sweating
- For at least 24 to 48 hours after your session, avoid hot showers, baths, saunas, steam rooms, and any exercise that causes excessive sweating.
- Keep the treated area cool and use your recommended Skinstitut products as instructed by your therapist, including Skinstitut Laser Aid post-cooling gel on all treated areas for 3 to 5 days.
- From day 7 post-treatment, gently exfoliate the area using Skinstitut Glycolic Scrub 14% to help the hair gradually shed. Do not pluck or pull at the hairs, allow them to fall out naturally.
- Always protect the treated area from the sun by applying SPF 50+ daily.
Hair shedding is normal
Over the next 7 - 14 days, treated hairs may shed. This is a normal part of the process and not new hair growth.
No deodorant or perfumed products
Do not apply deodorant, fragranced lotions, or creams to the treated area for 12 hours post-treatment.
Avoid sun exposure
Stay out of direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks following your treatment. If sun exposure is unavoidable, use a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen daily.
No tanning products
Avoid self-tanning lotions, sprays, and solarium use for at least 1 week after treatment.
Don’t pick or scratch
If mild flaking or scabbing occurs, let it heal naturally. Do not scratch or pick at the skin.
Skip harsh skin treatments
Avoid chemical peels, skin needling, or exfoliating treatments in the treated area for at least 2 weeks post-treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Our laser technology is designed to deliver excellent results. While the best outcomes are typically seen in clients with lighter skin and darker hair.
Please note: Laser hair removal is not suitable for white, grey, red, or very light blonde hair. During your complimentary consultation, our experienced technicians will assess your skin and hair to ensure suitability.
We use medical-grade Candela GentleLASE PRO systems—recognized globally as one of the most effective technologies for laser hair removal. Treatments are quick, comfortable, and highly effective, delivering impressive results with minimal downtime.
Our lasers use a precise beam of light that targets the pigment within the hair follicle. The light is absorbed, converted into heat, and disrupts the follicle's connection to its blood supply. This process prevents the follicle from growing new hair, affecting only those hairs in the active growth stage without damaging the surrounding skin.
Laser hair removal provides long-term hair reduction, not complete permanent removal. Most clients experience a 70% – 90% reduction in hair growth after a full treatment plan. Results vary depending on skin tone, hair color, hormones, and other individual factors.
Clients with hormonal imbalances or fine facial hair may require ongoing maintenance.
Most clients describe the sensation as a light snap of a rubber band. However, everyone’s pain tolerance is different. To ensure your comfort, we use advanced cooling technology during each session. This cooling system protects the skin and significantly reduces any discomfort.
Most clients will need 10 to 12 sessions for optimal results. Your technician will design a treatment plan tailored to your needs during your free consultation.
Laser hair removal targets hair in the active growth phase, so timing is key:
- Facial areas: Every 2 - 3 weeks
- Body areas: Every 4 weeks
Your treatment schedule may vary depending on your individual hair growth cycle, or as otherwise specified and recommended by your laser therapist.
Consistency is crucial. Skipping sessions or extending the time between treatments may delay or diminish results.
We recommend starting treatments from age 18 and up, once hormone levels have stabilised. Clients under 18 may still be treated with parental consent and attendance at the consultation.
Sun exposure increases the risk of skin sensitivity or adverse reactions. We recommend:
- No direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks before treatment
- No artificial tanning or self-tan products 2 weeks prior
- Daily application of SPF on the treatment area throughout your plan
If your skin is tanned or sunburnt, your session may need to be rescheduled.
Please follow these pre-treatment instructions:
- Shave the area 24 hours before (in-clinic shaving available for certain areas only)
- No waxing, tweezing, bleaching or depilatory creams for 4 weeks prior
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning (fake or natural) as per guidelines
- Discontinue skin treatments (peels, microneedling, laser, etc.) on the area at least 1–2 weeks prior, depending on treatment type
- Inform us of any medications you’re taking
Laser hair removal is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Based on current medical advice, treatments cannot be performed during the first trimester. For clients in the second or third trimester, mandatory medical clearance from your doctor is required before proceeding. Always consult with your healthcare provider before beginning any treatment.
Some medications, especially those that thin the blood or increase light sensitivity, may affect your treatment. Bring a full list of your current medications or supplements to your consultation so your technician can assess any risks. Always consult with your healthcare provider before beginning any treatment.
Hormonal imbalances such as PCOS can cause excessive hair growth. While laser hair removal can significantly reduce unwanted hair, you may require regular maintenance or medical support alongside your treatments. Speak with your GP or an endocrinologist for further guidance.
We do not provide treatment to clients with epilepsy. This is a safety precaution designed to minimise potential risks and ensure the wellbeing of all clients during treatment.
Laser hair removal cannot be performed directly over tattooed skin. However, we can safely treat areas surrounding your tattoo with a minimum 3cm gap.
Following your session, you may experience redness or swelling, this is completely normal. To ensure optimal recovery and results:
- Use Skinstitut Laser Aid soothing cream for at least 3 to 5 days after treatment
- Gently cleanse with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser
- Avoid sun exposure, hot showers, pools, saunas, and intense exercise for 24 to 48 hours
- Do not apply deodorant (if underarms are treated) for 12 hours
- Use mineral makeup only for the first 3 days (if facial area was treated)
- Begin exfoliating gently (2x per week) starting 7 days post-treatment using Skinstitut Glycolic Scrub
- Always apply SPF to the area during the day
